Enhancement Plans for Reed Park

Reed Park's enhancement plan is a neighborhood-driven vision to restore, beautify, and future-proof one of Austin's most beloved green spaces — for the people who love it today and the generations who will love it tomorrow.

Nature, History, and Community at Reed Park

Reed Park is a place where nature, history, and community come together — and where thoughtful design honors each. At its heart stands the Taylor Lime Kiln, a landmark dating to 1871 that has anchored this corner of Tarrytown for generations. It's one of the few remaining structures of its kind in Austin, and it gives Reed Park a character unlike any other neighborhood park in the city.

Reed Park is where kids learn to swim every summer, where neighbors play fetch with their dogs on lazy afternoons, where toddlers take their first kicks at a soccer ball. It's the home of Kiln Fest and the site of the Fourth of July celebration. For Tarrytown residents, Reed Park isn't just a park — it's the backdrop to a lifetime of memories.

The vision for Reed Park's future was crafted by Cameron Campbell of Campbell Landscape Architecture, whose master plan guides every phase of enhancement. The design philosophy is rooted in the park's existing natural character — preserving the woodland canopy, restoring the creek, and creating spaces that feel like a natural extension of the landscape rather than an imposition on it. Planned features like the Woodland Nature Trail, riparian restoration, native plantings, and a creek crossing are designed to deepen the experience of nature that neighbors already love about the park.
