VICTORY! Watershed Plan Defeated
NOVEMBER 17, 2025 UPDATE:
Dear Community Members,
We are thrilled to share an exciting update with you all. The City of Austin has confirmed the Watershed Plan has officially been defeated! The Reed Park ball field will remain a ball field now and forever. This would not have been possible without the incredible support and grassroots efforts from our neighbors in this community. We are grateful for each and every one of you in helping make this happen. If you’re interested in learning more, take a look at the official letter from the City of Austin on our website at the link below.
Looking ahead, the FORP advisory board is proud and excited that upcoming improvements to the park have been unveiled. If you haven’t seen the plans yet, you can find them on below. We will now be shifting our efforts to fundraising in hopes of accomplishing these park enhancements for the enjoyment of generations to come. Stay tuned for updates in 2026!
Thanks,
FORP

Proposed Watershed at Reed Park
Friends of Reed Park has worked closely with the Watershed Department to understand its proposed plan for Reed Park, which is in its design phase now and is scheduled to begin in 2025.
We support the goals of reducing flooding and erosion, and improving the water quality of Taylor Slough, but WE CANNOT SUPPORT THE CURRENT PLAN.
The Watershed Plan will permanently change the use, look, and feel of our park.
